What Is This?
BKRLab Space Weather Alerts sends SMS notifications when the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) Space Weather Prediction Center issues significant geomagnetic, solar radiation, or radio blackout alerts.
Alerts are sourced directly from NOAA's public data feeds. Messages are sent only when real events meet threshold criteria — there are no promotional messages and no third-party data sharing.
Alert Types
- Equipment Satellite drag, GPS accuracy degradation, HF radio blackouts, power grid impacts (G2+ and S2+ events)
- Wildlife Geomagnetic disruption affecting migratory bird navigation, cetacean magnetoreception, and sea turtle homing (Kp ≥ 5)
- HSP Advisory Epidemiological correlation advisories for highly sensitive persons — sudden storm commencements and sustained geomagnetic elevation (Kp ≥ 5)
